General Issues

Minecraft not detected? (Low Memory)

This can happen if you have very limited RAM (memory) left due to too many programs running - Please restart your device, and then close all other running apps:

  1. Press home and close all apps by double tapping home, holding down on an icon until you see a red circle, then tap the red circle for every running app to close it.
  2. Next start Minecraft PE, leave it at the menu, and then start Multiplayer for Minecraft PE.

No server when you switch to Minecraft?

There are several reasons this can happen:

  • You have very limited RAM (memory) left due to too many programs running - Please restart your device, and then close all other running apps (click here for instructions)
  • Another app is interfering with the operation of our app. Apps such as FaceTime and Skype can cause this issue - Please restart your device, and then close all other running app to be sure this isn't the case (click here for instructions)
  • If you are 'jailbroken' and have multiplayer patches installed. Please undo and remove these patches, or reinstall Minecraft PE if you do have them installed (if you don't know what 'jailbroken' means then you are definitely not jailbroken!)
  • You are using an older version of Minecraft PE. Generally only the same versions of Minecraft PE are able to connect to each other. This is not a limitation of our app but a restriction in Minecraft PE. You should ensure that you update to the latest version of Minecraft PE either Lite or Paid.

Lag, glitches and disconnects?

Lag, glitches and disconnects are usually due to either packet loss, or a slow internet connection on either the joiner or hoster's side. Packet loss can be fixed with a call to your ISP.

Please download this free app, and run it:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/shunra-networkcatcher-express/id490593384?mt=8

Select shunra.com as the test location, let it run until the blue bar at the top reaches the end, and then email us (email below) a screenshot of the 'details' screen when it finishes. We can diagnose if it's packet loss or something else.

Unable to join PocketMine?

We do not run the PocketMine servers seen in our app. In some cases these servers become full before you join, or are overloaded and unable to handle your connection. Please try multiple servers before reporting an issue. If you are unable to see the server after switching to Minecraft on every server you try please see No server when you switch to Minecraft

Bluetooth issues?

Please ensure you have turned on Bluetooth in your device settings. Also remember Bluetooth is a local wireless connection and has a range of 10 to 30 meters. The exact range of the connection depends on the OLDEST device connecting and not the newest. If you constantly disconnect over Bluetooth please see Minecraft not detected? (Low Memory)

No Response when Joining?

This can happen if you leave Bluetooth on and are connected to a certain type of Bluetooth device, so please ensure Bluetooth is switched off in your device settings and try again.

This can also be caused by one of three things:

  1. Sometimes your connections to our server get stuck and can take 30 minutes to be closed and flushed. This happens if there is an internet glitch while you are connecting and cancel a lot of times:

Please make sure you are only logged into ONE device with that gamecenter ID.

Next follow these steps to reset your connections:

    • Open Multiplayer for Minecraft PE
    • Switch to the Gamecenter App and logout
    • Switch back to Multiplayer for Minecraft PE and when it asks you to login press cancel
    • Restart your device
    • Open Multiplayer for Minecraft PE again, login to Gamecenter when the popup appears

You should now be able to join servers.
  2. If the server hoster went offline OR became full (someone beat you to the last slot) while you were connecting.
  3. If you have a lot of packet loss on your internet connection: Please download this free app, and run it:

    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/shunra-networkcatcher-express/id490593384?mt=8

Select shunra.com as the test location, let it run until the blue bar at the top reaches the end, and then email us (email below) a screenshot of the 'details' screen when it finishes. We can diagnose if it's packet loss or something else.

Private or Public?

When you host a server you either make it public or private.

  • For public servers, anyone who uses the app can join your server. Your server will also be shown on the main 'Public' section of the app for all users EXCEPT those you have added to your block list. Your block list is a global list that applies to all servers. You can manage your block list on the main hosting page. See 'How do I host a public server?'

  • For private servers only the Game Center friends you allow are able to see and join your server. You can still block or kick friends from your server if you like. Your block list is a global list that applies to all servers. You can manage your block list on the main hosting page. When you start a private server, all the allowed friends will be sent an invitation to join your server. See 'How do I host a private server?'
Remember whichever type of server you choose only 3 users can join your server at any one time. Any new requests will be rejected until a user disconnects and a free slot is available. Once your server is full, it will no longer be shown to users until a slot is available. Also any invited users who try to join will be told the server is full.

What is Multiplayer for Minecraft PE?

Multiplayer for Minecraft PE is the first and only app which allows you to play Minecraft PE online.

You are able to create your own servers or join others servers and enjoy online play without having to be on the same wifi. Your crafting is finally set free from having to be on the same wifi. Better still, you can also live 'Voice Chat' with the players you are connected to!

  • Create your own servers and advertise them on the App for others to join you.
  • Create private servers, so only friends you've invited can join.
  • In game 'Voice Chat' - all participants can use in game 'Voice Chat' to communicate.
  • Server hosts can manage users, with the ability to kick and ban users.
  • Free game to keep you busy while you look for a server to connect to.
  • No subscriptions, no charges, no waiting for your server to be approved.

Do I need Minecraft PE?

Multiplayer for Minecraft PE enables you to connect Minecraft PE to online servers, or host your own server for others to join. You still need to launch Minecraft to play the actual game once connected to a server - or when you host your own server. You may use either Minecraft PE (Paid) or Minecraft PE Lite (Free).

Need Minecraft PE? Please see: 'Where can I download Minecraft PE?'

NOTE: Online play is only possible between the same versions of Minecraft PE. Those with the Lite version can play with others using the Lite version, those with the Full paid version can play with those on the Full paid version. This is a limitation of Minecraft and out of our control. Multiplayer for Minecraft PE will only show you servers for the version of Minecraft you are running.

Can I use Minecraft PE Lite?

You can use the free Lite version of Minecraft if you like, however you will only be able to play with other users using the Lite version, see below.

Need Minecraft PE Lite? Please see: 'Where can I download Minecraft PE?'

NOTE: Online play is only possible between the same versions of Minecraft PE. Those with the Lite version can play with others using the Lite version, those with the Full paid version can play with those on the Full paid version. This is a limitation of Minecraft and out of our control. Multiplayer for Minecraft PE will only show you servers for the version of Minecraft you are running.

Where can I download Minecraft PE?

You can download the Lite and/or Full version from the App store. You may use either version, however you will only be able to play with users using the same version of Minecraft. Please see 'Can I use Minecraft PE Lite?'

Download Minecraft PE Lite (App store - FREE)

Download Minecraft PE (App store - NOT FREE)

Why is there of 4 player limit?

Minecraft PE only allows a maximum of 4 players to be connected in multiplayer at any one time. This is because one user runs as the server on their device and most devices do not have enough processing power to host more than 4 total players.

This is a limit of Minecraft PE and not Multiplayer for Minecraft PE, and is beyond our control. Remember this limit is there for a reason, so if you are planning to host a server, please use the most powerful device you have. Also ensure you have a good internet connection that can support the amount of data that needs to be transmitted to connected users.

Multiplayer for Minecraft PE will allow you to invite more than 3 players, however after 3 players connect (the hoster is the 4th player) no further connections will be accepted until a player disconnects. Please see the 'Hosting a server' and 'Joining a server' sections for more information.

Connection problems?

If you find you are disconnected often, please check your WiFi connection and the data speed of your internet connection. We have tested Multiplayer for Minecraft PE on a number of connection types and it does not require an exceptional amount of bandwidth, however it does require a reliable connection. If your ADSL or internet connection drops often you will be disconnected from servers often.

If you are hosting a server, please ensure your device is powerful enough to handle all the connections. In our own testing we have not found any issues, however you may want to close any other app's before starting your server.

You may also try to connect without activating Voice to test if the speed of your internet connection may be an issue.

Can I play over 3G or 4G/LTE?

Yes you can! However due to the high latency (long delays between data being transmitted) on mobile connections you may experience some lag at times. Also remember that not all mobile networks allow mobile gaming. In such cases you may not be able to connect to servers. This isn't anything we can control, as it is handled by your mobile network provider.

NOTE: Voice chat is not available over 3G/4G/LTE as it would delay game data and cause excessive lag.
